Supplies

Basic supply list:

  • Paper: Watercolor block, 140 lb. cold press 100% cotton, 9”x12”. Two brands I recommend are Legion Stonehenge, and  New York Central (They have a medium level price point). Of course, you can use any brand that you choose, as long as those basic criteria are met
  • Brushes: Short handled brushes- a 1 inch flat brush, no. 10 round, and no. 6 round. One brand I like is Beste. There are many brands to choose from, synthetic as well as natural hair. Choose brushes that are specific to watercolor.
  • Paint: Turner brand 15 ml tube watercolor paints. Pyrrole Red, Phthalo Blue(Red Shade), Permanent Yellow, Hooker’s Green, Burnt Sienna, and Dioxazine Violet.
  • Paint Palette: Something simple that has at least 7 wells for color, and a flat space for mixing
  • Graphite paper
  • Kneaded eraser

Other Accessories:

  • Roll of paper towels
  • tissues
  • Pencil
  • Water jar
  • Palette knife (if already own), or a butter knife
